Sedikit Pitra Baik Untuk Kesehatan

I love (not love) X-Men 3: The Last Stand. Since I’m a big fan of the comics, I guess it’s okay to talk about this movie. Warnings, spoilers ahead.

Some of the difference between the movie and the comic:

The origin of Dark Phoenix. In comic, Jean Grey was ‘possesed’ by an alien entity called Phoenix. Thus, she became Dark Phoenix, since its power corrupted Jean Grey. In the movie, Jean Grey, unbeknown to her, has dual identity, a calm one, and a rage one. The rage identity was suppressed by Professor X since teenager.

In the movie, Cain Marko just another mutant with unstoppable power. In the comic, he’s the step brother of Professor X, and he’s not a mutant. He got his power from a magical gem derived from his helmet.

There are no cure for mutants in the comic. In comic, there’s a disesase virus called Legacy, who killed people with mutant gene.

Enough with the differences.. The final trilogy story is quite good. Though, there’s quite a bit rush at the beginning. In the story, you can see a bit of Dark of Future Past scene here (well.. sort of..). In the beginning of the movie, what looks like leftover of X-men fought a giant sentinel (at least, you can see its head thrown in the end). Unfortunately, it’s only a danger room session. I love seeing Colossus and Shadowcat here in the fight, not just another background characters anymore.

Hidden spotlight:
- Do you know that the X3’s Shadowcat is played by different actress than the one played in X1 and X2?
- Do you know that you can also saw Hank McCoy in X2? He’s played by different actor, and not covered in fur. He was interviewed in TV.
- I gues the kid who multiply themselves in X1 is not Jamie Madox, since Jamie Madox is a grown up man here in X3.

The story itself is a good one. You don’t expect people like Cyclops or Professor X dies in the end of the movie. I hate seeing Cyclops dies with a burden in his heart. Can the writer makes it sweeter? Anyway, it’s the best conclusion of the story. Something that you can’t read in the comics.

My uncle want to open a small scale warnet in front of his house. Currently there are 8 monitor units connected with only 2 CPUs. Confused? I’ve got the same feeling when I heard about the system.

A CPU consists of 4 PCI graphic card, with its standard VGA and DVI outputs connected to 4 monitors. The USB port is also splitted so that it can cover 4 mice and 4 keyboards. Then, using a software called B-Twin, all monitors and USBs are simulated so that each of them represent a user login. Imagine a Win XP (licensed, of course) with 4 logins, with each login are shown on different monitor.

Though it only requires 2 Win XP licenses (cheaper than buying 8 licenses), there are also some setbacks. When a computer jams (showing fatal error window) and has to be restarted, all 4 users has to restart/reboot, giving unpleasant feeling to other users.

The other setback, the processor and RAM power are divided to 4 users. So it would require the latest processor speed and higher RAM, so that users can still surfs lightly. I don’t know which one is the cheapest. Using 8 licenses of Win XP with standard computer specifications, or using 2 licenses with higher computer specifications.

Anybody has tried this kind of system?

About a year ago, I collect several DivX anime movies (anybody who never heard of DivX should look them up by googling). I thought, it could be fun watching these DivX converted to MPG DVD formats, and seeing them in TV. The problems: I never have a DVD writer and the conversion process were never rights. So I gave it up then.

About few months later, these DivX were collected in a DVD-ROM version, and can be bought on local CD stores (illegally, of course). The price was too high (for a piracy version).

As I predicted earlier, someone converted these DivX format and turned them into a DVD format. Usually, the pirate ripped illegal DivX TV episodes, compiled them as DVD format, and sell them on the retail stores. So, most current season of TV series are taken from these DivX files. The quality is not good. For these series, I’d rather wait few more months until the original version comes out, and copied locally.

Then the heaven time comes. Anime movies are now converted to DVD format. The price becomes cheaper since the price of pirated DVD movies are cheaper than DVD-ROM. Now, you can see classic anime such as Voltes V compiled in 2 DVD movies, each DVD contains 20 episodes.

Just last week I bought Inuyasha TV series. There are 8 DVDs, each with 20-22 episodes. I don’t know when will I finish watching all of the series. (hehe.. it’s not like I have time to watch all my DVD collection. ‘To buy is easy, but to watch is not” – quoted by me.)

Sometimes that question is bugging my mind. One of what I feel lack in my life is a companion to share some personal feelings with. I’ve lot of female friends, though only few that I can call good and close friends.

It’s becoming difficult for me now to get close to many females that I know. Most of them I know during my line of work, either as a staffs or clients/partners. One of my principles are never to mix works with pleasure. So, I would never date any of my staffs. For the clients/partners, well, I really don’t like my jobs become a personal thing.

So, it would come down to my earlier friends or someone that I met during certain gatherings. Between ones that I’ve known and ones that are strangers, I tend to choose my earlier friends. For my earlier friends, right now I’ve only one that comes close as a good friend. I enjoy going with her together, eating together, bowling together, and so on. Though, sometimes I wonder, is she the right one? Or will there somebody else? The question is, when?

What not to loves about Indonesia? Every week I can buy whole set of DVDs each with IDR 5.000. Lovely, isn’t it. I’m not a hypocrite. I have almost 500 DVDs, all are pirated edition. Some are local pirated edition, and some are imported pirated edition. I enjoy them a lot.

Though all DVDs are piracy objects, most films that I bought are high quality version. You know,ones that are ripped or copied directly from their original version, completed with their completed subtitles (usually 7 languages). Most local editions don’t have features what their import counterparts have. Usually the features of sneak peeks, behind the screen, alternative endings, and that all sorts of gimmicks.

On the black market, there are also DVDs that has low quality version, that I never bought. What I define as low quality ones are:

• The movies shot from a camera guy in a cinema (I really hate that one).
• The color and saturation of movie is really awful. Sometimes even too dark to see.
• The subtitles are totally incorrect.
• Don’t have animated/live menus (though sometimes it’s an exception).

Now, how do your differ the high quality version DVD to low quality ones? These are some pointers:

• Never buy a movie that currently played in US cinema. Buy only after 2-3 months later, when the original DVD is released.
• Sometimes in Indonesia, the high quality version comes out with certain graphic themes. For example: using label “Original Version,” or has quotes taken from certain magazines, or the back cover has the correct DVD features description (not just some templates put there). The variations are differ from time to time, so it would be quite difficult to differentiate them.
• If you’re buying from Mangga Dua, the sellers usually quite friendly. Just ask them which DVD version that are already in high quality version. They referred them as the “ORI” version.

I’m not saying that you should buy piracy DVDs. I prefer that you buy the really original ones (if you have the money, of course). If you don’t then…(fill the blanks yourself).

However, if you want to enjoy Indonesian movies on DVD, I encourage you to buy the ORIGINAL products. Please never buy the piracy version our local products. They are already cheap. It would be shame to have/see of piracy products of our local Indonesian’s creative works.

Waah.. Kembali lagi hari Senin.

Mulai sibuk-sibuknya kembali nih. Nggak kebayang, minggu lalu kehidupan Jakarta benar-benar melelahkan. Berandai-andai kalo Jakarta nggak macet.. wahaha… ga mungkin banget, kecuali kalo gw bisa balik ke masa gw SD. Saat itu dari Tomang ke Blok M pake bis umum (yg bisnya lebih jelek daripada bis sekarang), cuma butuh waktu 20 menit. Makanya, dulu Blok M terasa dekat. Sekarang, jangan tanya deh.. Kalo hari sabtu atau minggu pagi, pake mobil sih mungkin masih bisa. Tapi hari kerja, hehe.. bayanginnya aja udah capek.

Gw bener2 berharap seluruh trayek Busway benar2 bisa berjalan lancar. Kita lihat aja nih gimana uji coba Busway trayek II dan III. Ada satu trayek yg persis lewat Tomang Raya. Tapi ga ngerti gw, kok dari Tomang sampe Harmoni nggak ada terminal perhentian sama sekali ya? Masih ga kebayang pula betapa Tomang Raya – Harmoni yang biasanya 3 jalur setiap sorenya selalu macet edan kepotong menjadi 2 jalur (gara2 Busway). Apakah macet akan jadi lebih parah?

Emang sih, dgn adanya jalur yg terpotong, pasti ada niatan dari Pemda utk ngasih shock therapy agar warga Jkt kapok naik mobil sendiri. Emang enak sih buat mereka yg kerjanya stand by di kantor. Busway menolong banget. Aduh, tapi yg kayak gw gini… Kerjanya kelayapan mulu tiap hari. Ke Cakung lah, ke Bintaro lah, ke Blok M lah, ke Kuningan lah, ke Pasar Rebo lah, n ke tempat2 lain dimana intan bisa didulang..:)). Ga mungkin kalo pake Busway. Tapi rasanya capek tiap hari nyetir mobil kemana2 yg selalu aja stuck di titik2 tertentu.

Huuh.. Andai-andai… Jkt seperti 20 tahun lalu.. Kayaknya nyaman banget ya…

Sebetulnya gw mau post berita ini di MEDIA IDE, tapi dipikir2 karena content-nya bener2 adult, jadi gw pertimbangin untuk dipost di sini aja.

Tau ga kalo gw n sodara2 segenerasi gw itu ternyata adalah generasi ke-14 langsung dari Sultan Agung. Masih inget sapa itu Sultan Agung? Ayo, buka buku sejarah lagi, anak2!! Nanti kalo kalian udah inget n nemu sapa itu Sultan Agung, mohon informasiin ke gw.

Kemarin Eyang gw sempet ngasih family tree, dari zamannya Sultan Agung sampe generasinya yang ke 11 (which is Eyang gw sendiri). Ntar kalo family treenya dah rapi, gw akan buat screen capturenya utk ditunjukin di sini.

Buat yg inget film animasi jamannya Voltes V, ada berita baik. Marilah kita berjalan2 ke Mangga 2 Mall (M2M), krn di sana udah dijual DVD nya.. Isinya sih sbtlnya dicompile ntah dari DivX ato VCD. Total 40 eps dipecah dalam 2 DVD, eps 1-20 dan 21-40.

Kalo inget, jaman pertama kali nonton film ini pas gw kelas 2 SD. Nonton pake kaset Betamax yg playernya udah tua, sewa di tempat penyewaan 1000 perak/kaset. Zaman dulu ga ngerti kalo video kayak gini itu adalah bajakan. Masih inget gw, nama studio pembajaknya adalah Indomovies..hehe..

Kalo diliat lagi filmnya skrg, emang animasinya keliatan garink.. Tapi coba dipikir, utk tahun 80-an (akhir 70-an malah pas tayangnya di Jepun sono), ada kreator jenius yg bisa ngehasilin konsep film spt itu.. wah, takjub. Emang sih di zaman itu juga, banyak film robot lain (kayak GoShogun, God Sigma, Gaiking, Jeeg, dll), tapi ga ada yg karakter tokohnya semenarik Voltes V.

Baca komik Amrik emang dah hobi dari zaman SMP.. tapi sejak 1998, hobi koleksi komik dah berhenti.. Selain mahal, juga sadar kalo itu kegiatan yg konsumtif (ya iya lah, dulu 1 komik cuma 7.500 perak, sekarang 1 nya bisa 40.000).

Untunglah skrg dah banyak donload-an comicscan. Semuanya kudu download pake Torrent. Ada temen gw yg untungnya suka donlod2 semena2 dari kantornya, n gw tinggal dateng setiap bbrp bulan sekali u copy2…hehe.. Jadinya, skrg koleksinya cuma CD-CD komik aja. (dah ada 70-an lebih CD tuh)

Yg menarik belakangan ini adalah crossovernya HOUSE OF M dari Marvel, dimana realita Marvel Universe dibuat acak adut oleh Scarlet Witch (yg udah gone insane stlh ngebunuh temen2nya di Avengers). Di crossover ini, mutant (homo sapiens superior) jadi makhluk yg mendominasi bumi, sementara bumi (homo sapiens) malah jadi minoritas yg tunduk di bawah kekuasaan monarki (1 bumi) Magneto. Yah, another What If.. story yg ok…


Yg lagi jalan n juga keren dari DC adalah crossover INFINITE CRISIS. Setelah prolog cerita terjadi dari 6 bulan yg lalu, sekaranglah penentuannya. Terasa banget kalo dunia DC, yg dulu terasa cemerlang n inspiratif, makin terasa gelap (hehe.. meski ini juga krn tuntutan pembaca yg ga suka komik anak kecil lagi). Dimulai dari matinya Superman dulu (n hidup lagi), lumpuhnya Batman (n akhirnya sembuh juga), berubah jadi jahatnya Green Lantern Hal Jordan (n akhirnya kembali jadi baik lagi), putus tangannya Aquaman (n sekarang pake tangan artifisial), pembunuhan pertama yg dilakukan Superman (saat ngebunuh Jendral Zod), matinya Blue Beetle (oleh bekas bos merangkap cs nya sendiri, Maxwell Lord), n cold blooded killing yg dilakukan oleh Wonder Woman, dan terakhir saling ketidakpercayaan yg timbul antara sesama JLA (akibat cuci otak yg pernah dilakukan dulu oleh sekelompok JLA lama terhadap Doctor Light n Batman).

Belum tau akan dibawa kemana cerita berikutnya. Tapi yg jelas sih, kegelapannya makin menjadi-jadi.

5 weeks to my little sister’s wedding!! Ngurus undangan diliputi dgn kekesalan. Awalnya gara2 ketidakpengetahuan adik gw tentang betapa pentingnya logo. Yg desain undangan kan gw, si percetakan cuma setting n nyetak (nyetaknya pun di-sub-in lagi padahal). Eh, kok dia malah naro logonya di undangan adik gw. Gw aja ga nyantumin nama, masa dia yg cuma setting masukin nama. Sebel!!

Kesal. Setelah diliat tempatnya menggangu lagi. Mending kalo ngumpet, lah ini ada di halaman belakang yg notabene diliat duluan oleh yg baca undangan. Mana difoil lagi (padahal kemarin gw mo minta depannya difoil suruh bayar lagi 350.000, makanya ga jadi). Stlh mikir2 sambil tetep kesel, akhirnya gw minta kertasnya dipotong, spy logonya hilang. Untungnya masih bisa. Cuma jadinya undangan yg rencananya kotak 15 x 15 jadi berubah deh jadi 14 x 15 (landscape). Damn!

Minggu yg sibuk. Namanya ngejar target supaya dapet proyek di 2006, semua dijalanin. Hehe.. ga terhitung berapa banyak proposal yg dijalanin dari 3 bulan ini. Baru sebagian yg jalan. Meski kalo jalan semua, dijamin kepala pun pusing, karena butuh resource orang lebih banyak…Yah, berdoa ajalah…

Ultah Bu Tinuk (adik nyokap gw) hari ini.. Kita nyobain dinner di Cilantro, tempatnya di lantai 46, di gedung BNI 46, (ya, betul, lantai teratas yang bisa dicapai oleh lift di Kota BNI)… Ga nyangka juga ada restoran di atas ini.

Rame, cukup lengkap. Hampir semua bisa dateng. Asyik juga ngeliat night in Jakarta dari tower BNI (meski kayaknya kalo siang ga ok banget pasti viewnya.. pasti keliatan kotornya Jakarta).

Anyway, karena ini udah awal minggu lagi, sekalian aja..

Apa orang yang suka nge-search di Friendster penggemar bokep semua ya? Dan, untuk mereka yg memang penggemar, kayaknya masuk ke Friendster bukan tempat yg ok utk search demikian (memang ada juga sih orang yg suka bikin user boongan u taruh gallery bokep lokalnya di Friendster, tapi user demikian cepet hilangnya, karena didelete oleh adminnya Friendster).

Mau tau cari tempat yg tepat? Sekarang ada yg naruhnya di bl*gsp*t, tapi nama usernya random.. Ada lagi yg hanya bisa ditemukan dengan peer 2 peer, umumnya sih via K*z*a.. Ato yg paling mudah, bergabung dengan mailing list yg emang isinya spt itu..

Pasti pada pengen deh punya motor yg dicat seperti ini…

Udah lama banget gw ga nonton di Slipi Jaya. I know, some of u might think that the cinema in this mall sucks. Hehe.. Tapi sebenernya ga gitu2 banget kok. Tiba-tiba jadi inget masa2 SMP dulu, dimana bioskop Slipi Jaya jadi andelan anak2 Jakarta Barat (weh.. dulu kan belum ada yg namanya Taman Anggrek n Citraland).

HTM nya murah, 20.000. Di sini, kemarin gw + temen (hayoo…siapa?) abis nonton Chicken Little. Udah telat sih. I can’t believe that this is a Disney movie… Because the movie sucks! Pertama, durasinya pendek banget, ga sampe 75 menit kali. Kedua, mungkin karena ini animasi 3D Disney pertama yg ga ada hubungannya dengan Pixar, jadi secara teknikal, kualitasnya pun beda.

Bahkan kalo dicompare dengan Toy Story (movie Disney – Pixar pertama kali), kualitas film ini masih di bawahnya. Bahkan kalo gw rating, masih bagusan nonton Ice Age deh dibanding ini.

Ceritanya terlalu sederhana. Idenya pun biasa. Desain karakternya juga ga terlalu ok. Karakter yg idenya baru n menarik buat gw cuma si Fish. Di dunia hewan yg penuh dengan binatang darat, karakter Fish jadi menonjol (apalagi ditambah pake helm isi airnya). Dan kalo diperhatiin, ga pernah Fish ini keliatan takut. Sampe saat diserang alien, Fish tetep ceria..

Mudah-mudahan Mbah Walt Disney ga marah, karena ada generasinya yg bikin film separah ini…:))
